The study of representation of culture in English textbook covers the content and forms of cultural representation. The present study adopts the Framework for Analyzing the Representation of Cultures in English Textbooks proposed by Zhang Hong and Li Xiaonan in 2022 to analyze the content of cultural representation in Model English Readers (MER). The study finds that: (1) In terms of categories of countries, MER pay more attention to the integration of target language culture and ignore learners’ mother tongue culture; (2) As for cultural categories, attention is focused on cultural perspectives, cultural practices, cultural products and cultural persons, while the emphasis on cultural communities is insufficient.
