With the acceleration of social scientific and technological transformation, global problems are increasingly complex, and interdisciplinary talent training has become the general trend in the development of global higher education. As a typical interdisciplinary field, area studies aim to provide knowledge about the world and other countries, which is related to the construction of think tanks with Chinese characteristics. This article focuses on area studies in world-class universities, and takes East Asian Studies at Yale University as an example to analyze its interdisciplinary talent training model from three aspects: training objectives, training process and training guarantee. Moreover, it is hoped that this will provide enlightenment for China to build area studies discipline and innovate the interdisciplinary talent training model.
