Under the background of the rapid development of information technology, how to effectively improve the teaching quality of “management information system” course and train high-quality information management talents who meet the needs of society has become an important issue facing the current higher education. By introducing the concept of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and the project-driven teaching model, this study has carried out an innovative teaching reform of “Management information system” course. The practice results show that OBE makes clear the student-centered teaching goal, makes the teaching content closer to the actual demand, and improves the learning motivation of students. Through the operation and practice of actual projects, project-driven teaching mode cultivates students’ active learning, independent problem solving and teamwork abilities, and significantly improves students’ practical ability and information literacy. The research also constructs a multi-dimensional teaching effect evaluation index system, including students’ satisfaction, knowledge mastery and practical ability improvement, and makes a comprehensive evaluation of teaching effect. Compared with the traditional teaching mode, the project-driven teaching mode under the OBE concept shows obvious advantages in stimulating students’ interest and improving their practical ability. This study also points out the shortcomings in the current practice, such as lax progress control and unequal student participation, in order to further propose the direction of future research to improve the teaching effect.
