The textbook series “Understanding Contemporary China” has made significant contributions to enhancing the ability of Chinese youth to articulate the essence of contemporary Chinese culture. However, the implementation of this series in the Second Foreign Language course faces several challenges, including limited integration pathways, a lack of teaching materials, high content difficulty, complex teaching methods, and unreasonable evaluation. Guided by the OBE (Outcome-Based Education) philosophy, this paper explores effective implementation pathways for the “Understanding Contemporary China” series in the Second Foreign Language (German) course by investigating teaching content, reforming teaching methods, and reconstructing the evaluation system. The aim is to provide insights and references for integrating this series into the classroom and promoting ideological and political education reform in the Second Foreign Language (German) course.
