Objective: To investigate the level of self-compassion and humanistic caring ability among undergraduate nursing students,and to analyze the relationship between them. Methods: Using the SelfCompassion Scale (SCS), the Caring Ability Inventory (CAI) and a general information questionnaire to investigate 518 undergraduate nursing students. Results: The total score of nursing students’ selfcompassion and humanistic caring ability was (86.94±9.049) and (179.85±13.373) respectively. There was a significant positive correlation between self-compassion and humanistic caring ability (r=0.374, p<0.01). The multiple regression model with the total score of humanistic caring ability as the dependent variable, the total score of self-compassion and it’s dimension scores with statistical significance in correlation analysis as the independent variables has significant statistical significance (F=23.699, p<0.001), and the independent variables can predict 20.9% of humanistic caring ability. Conclusion: The scores of selfcompassion and humanistic caring ability of undergraduate nursing students are in the middle, they are positively correlated, and self-compassion can predict humanistic caring ability. It is necessary to value this relationship, searching a more efficient way to improve the level of self-compassion and humanistic caring ability among nursing students.
