Among the skills of College English “listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation”, students are relatively not good at writing. The reason why students can’t improve their writing ability is not only the lack of language knowledge, but also the lack of logical thinking and critical thinking. The former (language level) can be effectively improved by upgrading the difficulty and variety of vocabulary, strengthening grammar training, and using the information technology platform for correction. The latter (thinking level) is relatively challenging. This paper summarizes effective strategies of writing by introducing graphical thinking tools-mind map as the teaching method, which can not only stimulate students’ interest in writing, but also improve their writing ability more effectively.
