A Study on the International Communication Effectivity of the Minority Ethnic Epics: Challenges and Countermeasures- Based on the English Version of the Miao Epics
This paper discusses the challenges faced by the overseas dissemination of minority ethnic epics andproposes a series of feasible countermeasures. Employing Lasswell’s “5W” communication theory and taking Miaoepic as an example, this study deeply analyzes issues related to the translator, content selection, disseminationchannels, target audience, and reception effect. It identifies that the current international dissemination ofminority ethnic epics primarily faces problems such as uneven selection of materials for translation, imbalancebetween academic and literary qualities in translations, a tendency to prioritize publication over dissemination, and outdated dissemination methods in the age of visual culture. To address these issues, the article suggestsselecting dissemination content carefully, expanding the audience, integrating dissemination channels, andstrengthening cooperation between official and non-governmental organizations, aiming to enhance theinternational influence of minority ethnic epics and promote cultural exchange between China and the world.
