文学翻译的补偿性研究 ——以《红楼梦》霍克斯英译版为例

• 摘要： 由于中西方语言差异较大，在从事文学翻译时必然有所缺失，译者必须采用翻译补偿手段来降低损失。《红楼梦》是中国古典文学巨著，蕴含中国博大精深的语言内涵和文化意义，是一部极具美学价值的艺术瑰宝。但由于中西方在语言、文化、审美各方面都存在差异，导致译本在各个方面都有损失。针对这些损失，本文运用翻译补偿理论，研究了霍克斯英译版《红楼梦》在语言、文化、审美三个层面的补偿，以及译文信息传递，文化内涵及审美效果完美再现的补偿手段。
• Due to the great differences between Chinese and Western languages, there must be some losses in literary translation, so translators must use compensation methods to minimize the loss. The Story of the Stone, which contains profound linguistic connotation and Chinese traditional culture, is a masterpiece of Chinese classical literature as well as an artistic treasure with great aesthetic value. However, the translation version has suffered losses in all aspects. In view of these losses, this paper applies the compensation theory to study the language, culture and aesthetic compensation of Hawkes’s English translation of The Story of the Stone as well as the compensation means for the perfect reproduction of the information transmission, cultural connotation and aesthetic effect.
