With the success of the Beijing Winter Olympics, Sichuan Province’s snow and ice sports have seen rapid development and a surge in the demand for ski instructors. This study aims to explore the challenges faced by Sichuan ski instructors in teaching and propose effective countermeasures to promote the sustainable development of snow and ice sports in Sichuan Province. This study used literature analysis, questionnaires, interviews and mathematical statistics to investigate and analyse 242 ski instructors from seven ski resorts in Sichuan Province. The study found that the Sichuan ski instructor team is young and highly educated, but generally lacks practical experience, has diverse professional backgrounds, and is dominated by national professional qualifications. The main challenges include lack of experience, a single form of training, a variable teaching environment, high seasonal mobility and surging market demand. Based on these issues, the study proposes the following countermeasures: establishing a continuing education system, strengthening school-enterprise cooperation, adapting to diverse teaching environments, and building a stable path for instructors’ career development.
