The construction of beautiful countryside in China has effectively
prevented the gap between urban and rural areas from continuing to
expand, alleviated the national food security and social crisis, but it has
not fundamentally resolved the ternary structure of urban and rural areas,
consolidated the basis of food security, and established a benign interaction
mechanism between urban and rural areas. With the government’s agricultural
support policy approaching the “ceiling” and the emergence of the new normal
of the economy, the power of beautiful rural construction is exhausted and the
rural construction is in a state of fatigue, which seriously affects the overall
situation of China’s modernization. Drawing lessons from the successful
experience of rural construction in Japan and South Korea, we should make
reasonable adjustments to China’s beautiful rural construction policies, actively
create conditions to narrow the gap between urban and rural areas, consolidate
the foundation for endogenous rural development, reform the rural economic
management system, adopt reasonable agricultural development policies,
promote beautiful rural construction, and achieve the goal of integrated urbanrural development.
