• Abstract: 自19世纪中叶以来的中国边疆学研究已经走过百年的历程，百年间中国边疆研究经历了三次研究高潮。三次高潮中，中国边疆危机、国家危难、社会巨变等挑战激励了边疆学者们的爱国热情，从而转化为推动中国边疆研究发展的强大动力。研究范式、研究旨趣、学者群体、学术中心不断涌现，研究地域及取向渐次转换。然而，由于国内外学者对中国边疆的独特性认识不足，研究人才基础薄弱，结构分布不合理，缺乏跨学科、综合素质高的领军人物，中国边疆学研究体系还需进一步完善，众望所归的中国边疆学始终未能成功构筑。可以说中国边疆学踏上一级学科之路任重而道远。
• Since the mid-19th century, China's Borderland research has gone through a hundred years, and the research of China's frontier has experienced three climaxes. In the three climaxes, challenges such as border crisis, national crisis and social upheaval stimulated frontier scholars' patriotic enthusiasm, which turned into a powerful research paradigms, research interests, groups of scholars and academic centers are constantly emerging, and research regions and orientations are gradually changing. However, due to the lack of understanding of the uniqueness of China's Borderland by scholars at home and abroad, the research talent base is weak, the structure distribution is unreasonable, and there is a lack of interdisciplinary and high-quality leaders. The research system of Chinese frontier science needs to be further improved, and the popular Chinese Frontier science has never been successfully constructed. It can be said that China's borderland studies have a long way to go.
