As an important stage of personality development and worldview formation, university life plays a crucial role in individual growth and improvement. Based on a questionnaire survey on the allocation of extracurricular time among students at Z University in Shanghai, this article aims to understand the current situation of extracurricular time allocation among students in applied universities and propose feasible suggestions. Research has found that students in applied universities have more ample spare time, with an average of 25-30 hours of free time per week, excluding necessary time such as attending classes and meeting physiological needs. In terms of understanding their spare time, most students have plans to make plans for their spare time and have put them into practice, making corresponding plans. However, in terms of implementation, due to various factors, some students are unable to complete their plans on time, resulting in poor utilization of their spare time.
