Ecological linguistics is an emerging field that studies the relationship between language and ecology, aiming to explore the development of language under the influence of the environment and its interaction with ecology. Based on the core concepts of ecological linguistics, this paper analyzes the holistic, dynamism, interactive, and situated of typical internet slang terms like “Xijing” and reveals how these terms reflect the close relationship between language and the environment. The study finds that “Xijing”-type internet slang is not only an innovation in language form but also a response to specific social phenomena, reflecting the profound interaction between language, culture, and the environment.
