The verification of terminology in specific field text translation is time-consuming and laborious, and the verification of terminology in professional text translation is particularly cumbersome. Whether the terminology translation is correct or not directly affects the quality of the translation and the reader’s acceptance. In recent years, significant breakthroughs have been made in new-generation artificial intelligence, and Generative Artificial Intelligence ChatGPT is more powerful than previous AI functions in language understanding and content generation, providing new possibilities for terminology translation verification. Although ChatGPT and its core technology have not been widely used in terminology verification practices, their potential possibilities deserve further exploration by researchers. The author of this paper selected professional terminology in scientific and technological texts, and through comparing large-scale terminology databases represented by TermOnline, search engine retrieval methods represented by Google search, and ChatGPT inquiries, it was found that Generative Artificial Intelligence ChatGPT is more accurate and efficient in terminology verification than traditional methods, which is conducive to improving translators’ translation practice ability. The research suggests that contemporary translators should make full use of cutting-edge artificial intelligence, actively try new things, and provide customers with quality language services more accurately and efficiently.
