The art of “Tahuzaohua”, as an outstanding Chinese manual skill, has apositive impact on promoting national culture and flourishing artistic creation.In the past, Tahuzaohua enjoyed a prosperous development, with variousthemed works being recognized by people at that time. However, in today’sindustrial age, mass production and standardization pose significant challengesto this traditional art form that relies on conventional methods of production.Moreover, people’s aesthetic concepts have also undergone considerable changestoday, and it is an undeniable fact that traditional Tahuzaohua content strugglesto meet contemporary aesthetic needs. Undoubtedly, for Tahuzaohua to develop,it needs to change and innovate. This paper aims to explore the possibilitiesand pathways for the innovation of the traditional Xiangxi paper-cutting art“Tahuzaohua” in modern design. By deeply analyzing the cultural and historicalbackground and artistic characteristics of “Tahuzaohua”, combined withmodern social aesthetics and technological development trends, this articlewill discuss how to transform this traditional art form into a modern designlanguage, achieving its inheritance and re-creation in contemporary culture.
