Moqi is a concept deeply rooted in Chinese culture. Recent studieshave mainly focused on moqi between superiors and subordinates in a highcontextand high power-distance culture that intertwines with the Easternconcept of face. Furthermore, the current study discussesthe generalizability of this construct to the global context in three aspects:cognitive processing of non-literal language, theory of mind, and positiveand negative face.
