To explore the questions of interest for interpreting trainees inconsecutive interpreting (CI) note-taking training, this study focuses onmaster’s degree theses on CI note-taking research. With CiteSpace, a visualbibliometric analysis was conducted to obtain the research themes, hot topicsand trends of 261 master’s theses on CI note-taking research in China overthe past two decades (2002—2021). The following conclusions are generated:(1) The research themes of the highly cited literature include the relationshipbetween note-taking and interpreting quality, language choice for note-taking,symbols in note-taking, note-taking problems and note-taking methods, and thefunction of note-taking. (2) There are five main research themes in the master’stheses on CI note-taking in the last 20 years: note-taking problems, interpretingquality, note-taking method, coping strategies and inappropriate note-taking.(3) The correlation between note-taking and interpreting quality, and difficultiesin note-taking are the two major hot topics that master’s student interpretersfocus on in their CI note-taking research. (4) Note-taking problems, note-takingstrategies and techniques, and note-taking and interpreting quality are probablythe research frontiers.
