Ancient Chinese philosophical thoughts have had an important
impact on production and development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
The thoughts, such as the view of heaven and man, the view of form and spirit,
and the theory of importance of human, have laid the theoretical foundation
of the holistic view of TCM. By the long-term clinical practice and combined
with the simple dialectical thinking, the unique medical model of TCM has
been formed, that is, “time-space-society-psychology-bio-environment model”.
This medical model emphasizes the overall harmony, coordination and unity
about the human’s internal and external environment, which goes through the
whole TCM theoretical system of physiology, pathology, diagnosis, syndrome
differentiation and treatment.
