The organic combination of ideological and political education and physical education is a result of adapting to the development of the times, which can effectively promote the development of teaching, stimulate students’ learning enthusiasm and internal driving force. This article uses various research methods such as literature review, logical analysis, and case analysis to analyze the current challenges faced by college tennis in the context of ideological and political education in the curriculum, as well as the importance of ideological and political education in college tennis teaching design. Research has shown that under the background of ideological and political education in the curriculum, there are the following problems in the design of tennis teaching in universities: the level of basic hardware facilities needs to be improved; Lack of innovative teaching methods and uniform standards in textbooks; Lack of ideological and political education factors in tennis teaching. Based on the above situation, corresponding optimization strategies have been proposed: clarifying the unity of teaching objectives and ideological and political education; Thoroughly analyze the ideological and political elements contained in tennis classes; Innovative methods and approaches for teaching tennis; Strengthen the construction of teaching staff and improve the relevant teacher evaluation system and incentive mechanism.
