“Church, diligent practice, and regular competition” is the vane of school sports reform in the new era. This article focuses on the basic requirements of “church, diligent practice, and regular competition”, using methods such as literature research, field research and expert interviews. The three-dimensional issues of “learning, practice and competition” in the course are considered, and reform ideas and practices are put forward. The study concluded that to promote the implementation of the “church” reform: carry out in-depth teaching guidance; strengthen the “dynamic layered” teaching method; cultivate students’ awareness of cooperative learning. Promote the implementation of the “diligence training” reform: arrange sports homework to guide the integration of learning and practice inside and outside the classroom; formulate a “points-based” evaluation method to promote practice through evaluation; improve venues and facilities according to local conditions. Promote the implementation of the “regular competition” reform: strengthen the training of students’ refereeing level; normalize classroom competitions to promote training through competitions; diversify extracurricular competitions to educate people through competitions; reasonably set competition evaluation indicators, and combine rewards and exemptions.
