With the rapid improvement of China’s comprehensive national
strength, China’s education service trade has entered a new stage of
development. This paper analyzes the development characteristics of China’s
education services in different export markets by using the panel data of foreign
students in China from 2006 to 2018. Then, the paper calculates the comparative
advantages of China’s education service exports in different markets with the
RCA index and uses the joint density distribution to analyze the changes of
comparative advantages over the past 12 years. The results show that China’s
education service export has obvious deficiencies: such as low export efficiency,
obvious differences between different export markets, slow improvement of
export competitive advantage and lack of competitiveness in higher education
quality. In view of the problems, this paper puts forward the countermeasures
to clarify the promotion objectives of different export types, establish export
market awareness and improve the quality of China’s higher education service
development.
