Objective: To evaluate the clinical value of superselective arterial
embolization in otorhinolaryngologic diseases. Methods: superselective arterial
embolization was performed in 24 patients with otorhinolaryngologic diseases.
Results: after superselective arterial embolization, 15 patients with serious epistaxis
caused by various reasons were effectively controlled. 9 patients with nasopharyngeal
fibroangioma were successfully embolized with the blood supply artery before
operation. The amount of bleeding during operation was reduced, the operation field
was clear, and the tumor was easier to identify and remove. No serious complications
occurred in all patients. Conclusion: superselective arterial embolization is a safe and
effective method for the diagnosis and treatment of serious otorhinolaryngologic
hemorrhage. Selective arterial embolization before the operation of nasopharyngeal
fibroangioma can effectively reduce the amount of bleeding, improve the success rate
of the operation and reduce complications.
