This paper analyzes five reports by The Beijing News on the case of “Liu Xuezhou, the boy searching for his parents,” focusing on the ethical misconduct in the media’s coverage of tragic events. The paper further proposes ethical guidelines for media reporting such events, emphasizing the need for truthfulness, accuracy, and balanced reporting. It also highlights the importance of respecting the personal information consent of underage interviewees and assuming social responsibility from the perspective of humanitarian care.
