As socialism with Chinese characteristics enters a new era, entrepreneurs are playing anincreasingly important role in the economic development of China. Against this background, mediacoverage of entrepreneurs has also increased. As an important representative of China’s economicnewspapers, the Economic Daily has seen new changes in its coverage of entrepreneurs in theprocess of development, and it is important to explore these changes in depth to better understandChina’s economic development. Therefore, this paper selects 221 entrepreneurial reports from theEconomic Daily between 2013 and 2022 and analyzes the development context, content, genre andcharacteristics of entrepreneurial reports in China in the new era by using literature research andcase study methods. The study found that entrepreneurial reports in the new era have gone throughfour development stages: start-up, growth, explosion and maturity. The content of the reportsmainly includes entrepreneurs and business environment, entrepreneurs and business operation,entrepreneurial communication and cooperation, entrepreneurial spirit, entrepreneurial innovationand entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurs and society. The reporting genres are mainly news, newslettersand theoretical articles, and newsletters include narrative, investigation and analysis, and conversation.The characteristics of the reports include distinct political orientation, strong social responsibility, andprofessional orientation. These findings help to better understand the development and characteristicsof entrepreneurial reporting in the new era.
