Since December 2019, Novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) has been one of the most
common infectious diseases in China. The outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia coincides with
the 2020 Spring Festival. With all the panic aroused by the rapid spread of the epidemic, all kinds of
news coverage are coming. However, information is not fully equal to communication. The unique bias
of information communication makes it not completely establish a communication bridge with the
audience. In this paper, novel coronavirus pneumonia information before February 12, 2020 is used as
a research model. The time sequence of information dissemination since the outbreak of the epidemic
has been combed. With the Edymon Carpenter’s and Harold Innis’s theory concept of “Media Bias”, the
time bias and spatial bias of information transmission in this epidemic situation are deeply analyzed.
At the same time, the research on the reflection and response of the news media to the public opinion
management of the major epidemic has also become the focus of this study.
