In the 1990s, with the development of the Internet, nationalism developed into a new stage of
youth-oriented online nationalism. In the youth-centered subcultural community Bilibili, users freely
express their personal opinions through pop-ups and comments. This paper explores the emotional
attitudes of youth users on political issues from the perspective of the “2020 U.S. Election” video
on Bilibili, and we can see the changes in the emotional undertones and expressions of nationalist
discourse in the era of online subculture.
